Who we are
The World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS), founded in 1979, is a global apolitical and non-profit student-lead organisation, that provides Chiropractic students and new graduates to develop their leadership skills and gain a deeper understanding about the diversity within Chiropractic.
We are dedicated to investing our expertise and resources to empower chiropractic students worldwide and ensuring their voices are heard on the global stage. We advocate for the chiropractic profession within the broader healthcare system, while fostering both intra- and interprofessional collaboration.
We offer an apolitical platform on which Chiropractic students and new graduates are able to:
- Participate at international events and get involved into all aspects of the chiropractic profession including education, research and legislation.
- Enhance their leadership and communication skills.
- Achieve valuable insights into the organisation’s structure as a global entity.
- Obtain a deeper understanding about the diversity within the chiropractic profession.
- Form international friendships and connections, which are good for the soul, and could also prove beneficial for both individuals and the broader healthcare community in promoting intra- and interprofessional collaboration.
- Broaden their exposure to the multiple niches that the profession has to offer.
WCCS History
Unique within Chiropractic, the WCCS has always been a student run organisation, for students by students, who are passionate about developing greater unity in the global profession. The WCCS first gathered as a congress at Logan College in 1980 with 11 Chiropractic Colleges represented. The growth of the organisation over the years has been remarkable. In fact, our 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 2019, hosted by Central Queensland University (CQU) in Brisbane, Australia, was our largest to date where we saw approximately 150 chiropractic students and new graduates representing over 30 chiropractic colleges and universities from around the world.
Unfortunately, between 2020 to 2022, due to many challenges brought by the Covid 19 pandemic, some chapters went inactive. However, the Board of Directors at the time ensured organisational survival during those trying years, and successfully reinstated in-person events in 2022. At our AGM in 2023, hosted by the University of Trois-Rivière (UQTR) in Québec, Canada, we had 30 representatives from 12 chiropractic colleges and universities in attendance.
We’re currently aiming to reinvolve more universities, amplify student representation, and advance the global chiropractic profession through inspiration, integrity, and leadership.
