From March 14th to 16th, 2025, our Director of Secretariat Preelan G. had the remarkable opportunity to participate in the FICS Symposium held in Kuala Lumpur. This event was a fantastic opportunity for the World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS) and the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS) to connect and collaborate.

The symposium served as a platform to highlight the latest advancements in sports chiropractic, emphasizing the significance of teamwork, research, and innovation within the field. One of the key outcomes of the event was the strengthening of ties between WCCS and FICS. Through engaging discussions and strategic networking, it became evident that both organizations are aligned in their mission to advance chiropractic care in sports. This growing partnership promises to create valuable opportunities for students, including mentorship initiatives, research collaborations, and expanded roles in sports chiropractic practice.

A major highlight of the symposium was the FICS Executive Committee (ExCo) meeting, which offered unique insight into the global operations of FICS and its efforts to promote chiropractic within sports medicine. Observing the leadership at work underscored the commitment to integrating chiropractic care into mainstream sports healthcare systems worldwide.

Under the theme “Navigating the World of Sports,” the symposium featured an impressive lineup of world-class speakers, interactive workshops, and panel discussions. Key clinical topics included upper limb fascia, hip, knee, and foot rehabilitation, as well as ACL injury management. The second day expanded into practical sessions covering connective tissue injuries, nerve entrapment syndromes, shockwave therapy, biomechanical taping, and rehabilitation for wrist and hand injuries. The event concluded with a powerful panel discussion on parasport, highlighting chiropractic’s role in making sports more inclusive and optimizing performance for para-athletes.

The FICS Symposium 2025 proved to be an invaluable experience for all participants. It not only provided new knowledge and global networking opportunities but also reinforced the importance of collaboration between professional and student organizations in shaping the future of sports chiropractic. With strengthened ties to FICS, WCCS aims to offer its members greater access to mentorship, research projects, and meaningful contributions to the field.

This event reaffirmed the vital role of chiropractic in sports medicine and marked a significant step forward in WCCS’s mission to support and advocate for chiropractic students on a global scale.
